How to get a battleskewer or brand (torch) offhand weapon

\
There are two semi-rare offhand items that you can get to drop for free from mobs. These are

  • Battleskewers
  • Brands (torches)
This guide will help you find all the places to get them, and explain all the varieties of them as well.

What are they?

These are weapons that you can equip in your offhand that add a little more damage to your attack. There are many different types ranging from common (5 damage) to godly (300 damage). Each type has a different level requirement on them, with the more rare ones, that do more damage, having a higher level requirement.

Where do I get them?

Battleskewers drop from Skewerpoint rare spawn mobs, and brands drop from Firebrand rare spawn mobs. There are a few things to remember when looking for these mobs:

  • They are always humanoid mobs - You will never see an eye, unicorn, or golem carrying a brand or battleskewer. You will, however, find them as skullcrushers, pirates, blackstones, or dragoncult mobs.
  • Rare spawn mobs always spawn in the same place - If you find one of these mobs, take note of where it spawns. That will be the place where it will always spawn, on rare occasions.

So specifically what mobs drop them?

  • Skullcrusher Skewerpoint - Lir's Reach
    • Between the North Peninsula Leystone and Hagvar's camp, there is a skullcrusher mob that walks East-West across the peninsula. He is the one that comes nearest to the big rock on the West side of the peninsula. This mob can also be a firebrand mob.
    • The Skullcrusher that walks on the hillside by the Jotun Alemaster can spawn a skewerpoint.
  • Skullcrusher Firebrand - Lir's Reach

    • Between the North Peninsula Leystone and Hagvar's camp, there is a skullcrusher mob that walks East-West across the peninsula. He is the one that comes nearest to the big rock on the West side of the peninsula. This mob can also be a skewerpoint mob.
    • At the entrance to Hagvar's camp, there is a Skullcrusher mob standing in front of a tent to the West side. This mob stands still and does not move. Kill him to possibly make a firebrand spawn.
    • In front of Hagvar's camp, there is a mob that walks up the hill that can spawn a firebrand.
  • Connacht Skewerpoint - Shalemont Ravine
    • Just to the East of Malus the Serpent, there is a large tree along the river in the area where the Ribbonswords are. There is a Connacht mob that walks just to the south of this tree, and this one can spawn a Connacht Skewerpoint. It is also possible that it can spawn a mob that drops a Master Dagger of the Shadows
    • At Greygorge just across the bridge, the Connacht swordsman can spawn a skewerpoint.
  • Connacht Firebrand - Shalemont Ravine
    • The mob that walks in circles around Malus the Serpent can spawn a firebrand.
    • The mob that walks North of the tents at the Shalemont River along the river
  • Bloodgrove Skewerpoint - Stonevale
    • along the South wall of the Bloodgrove, near Chillmist's path, there is a Bloodgrove druid mob that is standing there not moving. Kill him to spawn a skewerpoint.
    • On the East side of the Bloodgrove, there is a tree with rocks around it, and a unicorn next to the tree. This is between the Fellfire and Starspell area. There is a druid that walks from this tree, north to another tree. This mob spawns a skewerpoint.
  • Bloodgrove Firebrand - Stonevale
    • Before going up the hill that leads to the area with the Otherworld portal, there are trees to the left and right of the hill. This mob starts at the southern tree, walks to the northern tree, and passes it, eventually coming back to it on his return trip.
  • Darksea Skewerpoint - Fingal's Cave
    • Near Captain Blackstorm's cave, there is a pirate that walks the hall starting at the room to the West of Blackstorm's, and walks the hall down to the the next Northern fork in the path. This mob also spawns a firebrand.
