Locking for beginners (part 1)

Locking for beginners (part 1)

Author: Taalia (Rosmerta)

1. In options, gameplay, tick "filter players"

This means when there's dozens of people standing around you select the boss rather than inspecting your rival's jewellery. She may have a nice necklace but lock time means boss poking time not ooh aah time!

2. Don't kill adds!!!!

This is true at 180. At 215. At mord. At necro. At Gelebron.

Why should you not kill adds?

Because
a. If you're killing adds you're not ready and not focused on the boss.
b. If you're killing adds you're not ready and not focused on the boss.
c. If you're killing adds you're not ready and not focused on the boss.
d. If you lose lock the adds annoy the other side. If they are better lockers they may be less tanky than you and may wipe giving you back the lock.
e. If you're killing adds you're not ready and not focused on the boss

3. Have a full group, right classes if possible.

Right classes and builds is a subject for part 2. But don't for Rosmerta's sake go into a lock battle with two half formed groups. Or two groups, half of each still travelling to the battle. That's an easy way to lose.

Pick a SINGLE dps group and put all your strongest lockers in there. Do this QUICKLY. You can then switch out players if more appropriate classes or builds arrive at the boss.

Locking means being fast on your feet as well as with your fingers.
